Assembly
A 1-day mini-convention for small business owners
ABOUT + THE INSPIRATION
Assembly Expo, a mini-convention for small business owners, came to me as an idea after seeing many entrepreneurs and business owners frequently commenting in Facebook groups for resources. I saw many people asking for the same types of support; accountants, marketing professionals, photographers, etc.
And so Assembly was created! An in-person opportunity for small business owners to directly meet the resources they need. And of course, all of the vendors were small businesses too.
The day itself consisted of vendors, 2 panel talks, free headshots for all attendees, a raffle and food and drink sponsored by local companies.
THE BRANDING
As the event was hosted by our team at Salt Design Co. plus business coach, Sara McCabe, we worked together to create branding that was inspired by an outdoor, summer street party.
The concept was to create a space that felt industrial and relaxed, with an outdoor element and some retro fun vibes.
We accomplished this through bright branding, faded photos for our marketing and the industrial venue location. In addition we used stamp and badge like styles for the logo and the poster wall that acted as a photo backdrop.
DECOR & EXPERIENCE
For the event itself we created pronouns pins for all attendees, had volunteers helping our 85 attendees check in, a map of all vendors and a schedule of the day.
The decor featured astro turf, old-school chairs, a big rolling garage door, string lights and lots of plants!
We set up a bar on side of the room for our sponsors to set up their food and drinks, all of which were free for the attendees.
Our sponsors included: Cartems Donuts, Body Energy Club, WOASH Tea and Hoochy Booch.
Additionally, in partnership with Rosemary March Photography we offered free headshots to attendees as part of their ticket cost.
