Bakau Consulting is a full-service equity, inclusion, and anti-racism consulting company based in Canada, with a global, intersectional approach. Bakau provides education to organizations and businesses through workshops, audits, and policy implementation.
Originally Cicely Blain Consulting, owner Cicely wanted to grow the team under a new company name and separate their own brand to be under their name for all personal projects and work.
With brainstorming and research into multiple name options, founder Cicely ultimately chose to use the town Bakau in The Gambia (where their ancestral family is from) as the inspiration for the name of the company.
Wanting to stray from the traditional “professional” approach to consulting, Bakau shows that you can tackle systemic change within your organization in a fun and welcoming manner – it doesn’t need to be scary or intimidating!
The vision for the brand identity included patterns, shapes that can be layered for decorative elements, and vibrant colours that add energy and motivation. This style direction sets the tone for the brand to be inspiring but still rooted in some handmade, human elements that ensure the bright colours don't create a cold or child-like visual. With crisp, bright photos alongside the colour this identity will be bold, fun and ready to get to work.
