1 year of intimate panel talks to foster connection and open conversations
ABOUT
As part of our marketing efforts at Salt Design Co. I wanted to create in-person connections with the community I was building on Instagram.
Additionally, I wanted to create a chance to talk about some of the topics our clients found confusing, both within the design and website realm and within more personal topics like creating habits and building stronger relationships.
For this, we hosted 10 panel talks from August 2017 until November 2018, with 3 panel speakers coming to share their thoughts, perspective and expertise on that months topic.
THE TALKS
The concept for these talks was relaxed, inclusive intimacy. The idea was that within the relaxed space of Moment Mediation, everyone could sit in a circle and face each other– the panelists included! This helped us to create a round-table style conversation where everyone could join in, with the panelists guiding the conversation (via questions I asked and moderated) but not leading it. Anyone could chime in with their own thoughts and the result was 10 evening of extremely connected, energetic and inspiring conversation.
BEYOND THE EVENT
As each event was very intimate, we capped the number of participants at 15 – including the panelists! In an effort to be more inclusive and share the experience with others online, we created a PDF of the conversation and included guidebooks or workbooks from some of the more hands on events.
THE IMPACT
By the end of the year we felt more connected to our community and found that the events had supported our marketing efforts. After the first event, each panel talk was sold out and that gave us a boost of confidence as well as a real satisfaction that we were getting to know our community and bond with them.
